Walter Gropius

WALTER GROPIUS (1883–1969) founded the Bauhaus; an influential art and design school that existed in Germany from 1919 to 1933. Although primarily known for architecture, Gropius and the Bauhaus’ dedication to functional purpose, uncompromising craftsmanship, and the harmony of engineering and aesthetics, aligned perfectly with the mechanical precision of horology.

After the Bauhaus was closed in 1933, Gropius emigrated first to Great Britain and later to the USA. His principles of modularity, material innovation and mechanical honesty continue to inspire contemporary watchmaking, embodied in the range of watches we offer.
